It’s hard to believe we are full-on into 2019 already, but so it is. Before we leave January behind, we thought it’d be a good moment to take stock of some developments here at Trulife over 2018. So, here’s the whistle-stop tour……
Yes it’s ‘Tru’ (sorry – can’t resist!) – it’s six decades since the foundations of the current business were laid down by the amazing innovator Walter Kausch, and we celebrated in style with a party for all our teams across the world – some of whom were even lucky enough to scoop a diamond to mark our diamond anniversary. Walter developed the first ever commercially produced external breast prosthesis in Michigan, developing the business further until Irish entrepreneur Noel Murphy later acquired the business in 1987. Since then, the company has grown and expanded through the success of its products, which are now distributed across 100 countries, and through the acquisition of a number of equally progressive businesses. Trulife now operates across a variety of sectors including medical, aerospace, manufacturing and more. We’re proud of our heritage and the commitment we have shown to quality, healthcare and innovation. Here’s to the next 60; we’re not sure what stone marks a 120th anniversary!
As a truly global business, of course we place a high value on the presentation of our brand online, on making our products visible to our extended community and on reaching new markets. So in 2018 we prioritised investment in digital marketing to optimise the marketing spend. Working with digital partners www.inspiration.ie, the first project involved an upgrade to the “look & feel” of our corporate site www.trulife.com. We feel this site is now more reflective of the scale of the business, the depth of the product range and the scope of our capabilities.
Next up, we went back to our roots and developed a new site to showcase the very latest options available to people who might benefit from a custom breast prosthesis. We believe that Radiant Impressions truly reflects the ethos of the business and the Find a Retailer functionality has proven highly useful for our clients and retailers alike.
Just before the end of the year, we were delighted to go live with Trulife Engineered Solutions – the Pacific Northwest’s leading provider of contract assembly, quick-turn and production machining services. That business is already seeing some great leads come through the site and we look forward to more of the same throughout 2019.
In 2018 we also advanced our product offering. The new TruCare range is ideal for low mobility patients such as wheelchair users, relieving the issues that can arise with pressure points developing from contact with uncomfortable surfaces. Hard surfaces are a well-documented cause of pressure injuries and wearable pressurecare is the ideal solution. Check out the TruCare range as well as the full Pressurecare range now.
SPUD – Stop Pressure Ulcer Day
During the year we also supported Stop Pressure Ulcer Day (SPUD) which is promoted by the National Pressure Ulcer Advisory Panel. We continue to work on industry and community initiatives to address this unnecessary, harmful and distressing patient outcome that can be addressed through best practice prevention techniques and solutions like the Pressurecare range from Trulife.
Stop Pressure Ulcer Day is something we feel very passionate about at Trulife. Each year the medical community come together to create a worldwide pressure injury prevention day and for the last number of years we have done our bit to raise awareness of the issue. In 2018 we again highlighted the issue by wearing our “SPUD” t-shirts at our stand at Medica.
